Research interests
Hon.-Prof Tampin is a clinical researcher with a strong research background in the assessment and treatment of patients with neuro-musculoskeletal disorders and neuropathic pain, in particular with spine-related limb pain and entrapment neuropathies. Her PhD studies addressed the assessment of neuropathic pain in patients with nerve-related neck-arm pain, using clincial classification and screening tools and the quantitative sensory testing (QST) protocol of the German Research Network on Neuropathic Pain (DFNS). Some of her post-doctoral studies investigated (i) the assessment of neuropathic pain and altered sensory nerve function in patients with lumbar radicular pain, using QST and (ii) if altered sensory profiles may be associated with pain persistency in patients under conservative management and in patients following lumbar discectomy.
Hon.-Prof.Tampin has set up a QST laboratory according to the DFNS standards at the Neurosurgery Spinal Clinic at Sir Charles Gairdner Hopsital as well as at the Hochschule Osnabrueck, University of Applied Sciences.https://www.hs-osnabrueck.de/pt-qst/ and https://www.nacken-armschmerzen.de
