European Research and Transfer Management (EURESTMA)

Before applying, please take a look at the schedule and tuition fees described further down on the site. It is not possible to complete this certificate without being present at the on-site events.
Program Description
The EURESTMA certificate is a new program for European Research Managers. The program is organized by the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück. Together with Leading experts from renowned institutions we provide up-to-date knowledge on research and transfer management in a European context. The overall objective is to contribute to the professionalization of European Research Management and to establish an active international community of research managers. The program follows a blended learning format, including self-study and in-person workshops. EURESTMA is a comprehensive Research & Transfer Management program that includes six modules taught during two on-site weeks, as well as a 'Project Action Plan' in which each participant will implement a change project at their institution supervised by our experts.

Schedule
The EURESTMA program runs from December 2024 to July2025. The program will kick off on December 3, 2024, at 5 PM CET with an online meeting to get to know the trainers and the other participants. The first on-site week is scheduled from February 3 to 6, 2025, and will take place at the UAS Osnabrück. Between the two on-site weeks, several online sessions will take place, typically starting in the afternoon around 4-5 PM CET. The second on-site week will be held in Brussels from June 2 to 5, 2025, mainly at the KoWi office but also at different places. The final presentations are planned for July 14 to 17, 2025 in online Session formate.

Target Group
Each year we envisage to enroll about 20 participants in the program. Participants who are employed in research management positions with one to three years of professional experience will benefit most from this program. It is helpful if applicants are responsible for strategic tasks, process organization, planning and designing systems in your institution. Applicants should be open to collaborate with international partners and initiatives. Applicants are expected to participate in both on-site weeks and several online activities and should possess good proficiency in English.
Costs
The program fee is 3950€, which includes study materials, instructors, coaches, lunches, coffee, snacks during on-site weeks, and two evening dinners.
After successful completion of the program, you will receive a certificate for 15 ECTS.

The UAS Osnabrück is one of the leading German hubs for practice-oriented, academic qualification in higher education and research management and is coordinating the EURESTMA Program. At Osnabrück, a national MBA program for higher education managers exists for almost 20 years, next to innovative lifelong learning degrees, such as a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Higher Education and Research Management. Furthermore, UAS Osnabrück organizes the International Deans’ Course in Southeast Asia and Africa, next to numerous other projects to develop leadership capacities at universities worldwide, for example in Ethiopia or Thailand. During the last years, UAS Osnabrück also for instance engaged in a project in Lower-Saxony to generate Open Educational Resources or in an empirical research project analyzing the careers and professionalization processes of higher education and research management.

UWK is a leading providers for academic courses in higher education and research management in Austria. Between UAS Osnabrück, Tampere University and UWK there is a joint multi-year collaboration regarding the Erasmus Mundus master programme “Master in Research and Innovation in Higher Education” (MARIHE). Besides MARIHE, the department for Higher Education Research at the UWK offers and coordinates a master in “Research and Higher Education Management” (MSc) since 2005 in Austria and has been involved in a number of international curriculum and program initiatives in the field of the development of professionals in higher education. The research portfolio covers a large set of aspects addressing the system, institutional and individual level of higher education including topics such as human resources and organizational development, governance, the third mission of higher education institutions and academic continuing education. Further to this, the Department is a national hub for the research into higher education in Austria and coordinates the work of the Austrian Higher Education Researchers’ Network.

TAU is a leading providers for academic courses in higher education and research management in Finnland. Between UAS Osnabrück, TAU and UWK there is a joint multi-year collaboration regarding the Erasmus Mundus master program “Master in Research and Innovation in Higher Education” (MARIHE). In addition to the MARIHE partnership, Higher Education Group at TAU has offered since 2002 a continuous education program titled “The Study Programme in Administration and Management of Higher Education” (40 ECTS) for professionals working in the field of higher education and research organisations.
