Brief description

The module consolidates and secures general language skills and enables students to acquire basic business-specific language skills through practical teaching-learning settings.

Teaching and learning outcomes

  • Reading and analysis of selected articles from textbooks and the Chinese-language business press;
  • Basic business vocabulary;
  • Oral and written production of texts, discussions and short presentations;
  • Reviewing grammatical and idiomatic structures used in business.

Remark on the assessment methods

PFP-1) The portfolio examination is worth 100 points and consists of two 30-minute written tests (K30), a presentation (PR) and an oral examination (M). Each element is worth 25 points. 

PFP-1) The portfolio examination is worth 100 points and consists of a one-hour written tests (K1), a presentation (PR) and an oral exam (M). K1 is weighted at 60 points. PR and M are each worth 20 points.

Knowledge Broadening

Students will be able to independently expand their specialised vocabulary based on the fundamentals of Chinese business language taught. They will also be able to identify and differentiate between expressions in everyday language and in business-related communication situations.

Knowledge deepening

Students will be able to repeat, extend and use simple grammatical, syntactical and idiomatic structures in business contexts.

Knowledge Understanding

Students will be able to understand and interpret simple texts related to the world of work and business.

Application and Transfer

Students will be able to independently develop their language knowledge and skills in a business-related context.

Communication and Cooperation

Students will be able to communicate in uncomplicated business contexts, respond to questions with simple sentences and lead discussions.
