- Brief description
Students further develop their skills and competencies at the A2 Niveau of the Common European Framework of References for languages. This enables a groundwork for communication abilities in everyday situations, but also in contexts specific to higher education. The module reinforces and secures their general language knowledge and prepares them for the acquisition of more specialized language skills in Niveau B1/B2.

- Remark on the assessment methods
PFP-1) The portfolio examination is worth 100 points and consists of two 30 minute written examination (K30), and two oral examinations (M). The two K30 and the two M are weighted by 25 points each.
PFP-2) The portfolio exam covers 100 points and consists of a one-hour written examination (K1) and an oral examination. The written and the oral examination are weighted by 50 points each.
PFP-3) The portfolio examination is worth 100 points and consists of two 30 minute written examination (K30), one oral examinations (M), and one presentation (PR). The two K30 are weighted by 30 points each. M and PR are weighted by 20 points each.

- Recommended prior knowledge
Placement test results at the Niveau A2 or higher or a completed course in English Niveau A1
- Knowledge Broadening
The module reinforces and secures general language knowledge and prepares for the acquisition of more specialized language skills at level B1.
- Knowledge deepening
Fundamental-level grammatical and syntactical structures are reviewed and reinforced, as well as continuously expanded upon, enabling students to apply them in everyday communication scenarios.
- Application and Transfer
- Individual presentations, group work and discussions about more complex everyday language topics
- Oral and written text production on more complex everyday language issues, as well as more simplistic specialized subject areas
- Communication and Cooperation
With the help of oral and written text production, discussions and short presentations, students gain a solid foundation for operating within more complex general language communication scenarios in a culturally appropriate fashion. Simple specialized language structure are worked on, thereby laying the groundwork for acquiring more specialized language skills in the subsequent module.
