- Teaching and learning outcomes
The module ”Internationale Beziehungen“ focuses on the impact of globalization and internationalization on the higher education and research systems and institutions. It zooms in on the concepts around internationalization as well as on trends in internationalization policies and practice at international (European), national and institutional level. As such, we will address issues such as:
- The rationales for internationalization: connecting concepts of internationalization, globalization, Europeanisation and the knowledge economy
- The implications of the Bologna and Lisbon (Europe 2020/Horizon Europe) processes: the vision of the EU on the role of HE teaching and research.
- Measuring and statistics on internationalization: e.g. patterns in student and staff mobility (international comparisons).
- Internationalisation strategies for HE & sciene of various countries, a typology: using examples of various international organisations and countries like Australia, Asia (Thailand), Canada, England, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, France, Norway, Japan, etc.
- Internationalisation strategies of HE & science institutions.
- Measuring the impact of internationalization on students, institutions and systems.
- The development towards internationalization at home.
- The role and stimulation of intercultural competences.

- Knowledge deepening
Students have the tools to analyse the internationalisation strategies of other organisations that impact on their unit or organisation based on which they can develop their own internationalisation strategies.
Students can translate the requirements of the Bologna-and Horizon Europe Processes within their own teaching, research and management practices.
- Knowledge Understanding
Students understand the rationales and challenges of the internationalisation developments in their organisation, Europe and beyond.
- Application and Transfer
Students know how their own organisation can make use of national and European internationalisation instruments to support teaching and learning.
- Academic Innovation
Students apply their knowledge on internationalisation aspects to their own HE & science organisations, e.g. in terms of improving or developing an internationalisation strategy for their unit or organisation.
