In the mentoring program of the WiSo Faculty and the wiconnect e.V. alumni association, students teach students. Especially when beginning a degree program, the orientation is often missing. What courses should I take? How does the OSCA portal work? Where can I get help?
The mentors can help with all these questions. The freshmen mentees can contact their mentors with all their questions - and not only during the first days at the university. The mentors are available to their mentees with help and advice even beyond the first weeks. You benefit from the experience of the mentors because they already know their way around in the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences.
Becoming a mentor is easier than you think: The mentors pick up the new freshmen at the beginning of the semester after the welcome by the course coordinators.
Become a mentor
Students in higher semesters can become mentors. They help the freshmen at the start of their studies at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. Mentors make many new contacts and share the experiences they have collected while studying at the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences. Mentors will also receive a certificate for their voluntary social commitment.

Student Council members representing the students of the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences. All members are elected by the students in university elections. The Student Council also organizes the first weekend where freshmen are invited to get to know each other.
There is more information about the WiSo Student Council on the Hochschulfreunde Osnabrück website.
In order to make studying at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences compatible with family responsibilities, the framework conditions are constantly being improved. For example, students who are raising children or caring for relatives can apply for the “Study and Family” card at the Student Secretariat. This card entitles students to take advantage of various compensatory measures, including making their studies more flexible and extending the processing time for examinations.
The Family Service in the Equal Opportunities Office will be happy to provide advice and information on all questions relating to the ID card and other support services to improve the compatibility of studying and family life. (website only available in German)
