Internal Research Focuses at the WiSo Faculty
Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences supports the successful development of its research activities through its own measures in selected areas. To this end, the university is currently promoting two internal research focuses in which the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences is involved.
EN ROUTE – Physically and virtually on the move in sustainable educational landscapes

As part of the interdisciplinary research project EN ROUTE, concepts and strategies for sustainable travel in the university context are being developed. Accordingly, there are both real spaces and virtual environments that are socially, ecologically and economically relevant for students, employees and lecturers. The aim of EN ROUTE is to tap into the potential of these spaces through a new understanding of travel. With this new understanding of travel, the researchers assume that thanks to information and communication technologies (ICT), the actors at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences can travel physically and virtually across classic spatial and temporal boundaries. This comprehensive, digitally triggered travel holds potential for the reorganization of learning and teaching scenarios and university-related mobility. Here are starting points for making educational landscapes more sustainable and resilient in the future.
The project runs from 2021 to 2025.

The SPINE project is dedicated to the application possibilities and effects of artificial intelligence (AI). The questions include: How can AI automate and optimize processes in business? And how can the acceptance of AI be increased? These are two questions that scientists are addressing in the project. "Among other things, we want to develop software solutions that companies can use to digitally support their business processes. In business practice, there is often still a lack of expertise in implementing such solutions," explains Prof. Dr. Ralf Buschermöhle, Professor of Business Informatics and project spokesperson. The focus is on the areas of health and care, the agricultural and food industry, and the production industry. These are sectors in which AI is already used in many facets, but is not yet being used to its full potential.
The project runs from 2021 to 2025.
