Our vision

Making the future (even more) worth living

The Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences strives to focus its research and teaching on the major challenges facing society, the economy, and the world of work, namely working and living in a world

  • shaped by European, global, and intercultural relations
  • by digitalization and artificial intelligence
  • that requires intelligent cooperation between different disciplines, and
  • that requires sustainable development and the capacity for personal development in the face of constant change.

Our goal is to ensure that the students we educate are equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in the labor market and become self-reliant individuals.

As a faculty, we engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to conduct research and teach with the dual goals of understanding the PRESENT and influencing the FUTURE.

Our mission

Teaching, learning, and research on a cosmopolitan campus

Our mission is to provide world-class degree programs and continuing education formats, as well as qualification programs (including doctoral studies) for scholars that combine academic excellence with action-oriented training. We promote interdisciplinary research and the development of innovations to find solutions to meet the challenges of our future. We foster the practical application of science through our diverse partnerships and community engagement.

We offer our students small classes, a wide range of languages, semesters abroad, and intensive support for projects and final theses. Learning takes place on a cosmopolitan campus. We are convinced that an international campus reflects the diversity of the world and is therefore a good place for all of our faculty, students, researchers, and staff to act reflectively and sensitively in a digitalized and globally networked society.

Our research is inspired by fundamental questions about how to achieve transformation in society, health and social care, and the world of work. We address issues at an early stage, using scientific methods to

  • enable people to live healthier and better lives,
  • ensure that resources are used wisely, and
  • enable organizations to structure themselves for success.

Our values

The faculty wants to achieve these goals on the basis of freedom, equality, democracy, tolerance, humanity, and international coopera-tion. It is committed to respecting these values and to assuming its responsibility for society and the environment. The faculty actively promotes social, ecological, and economic sustainability in its areas of action. It promotes diversity among its students, faculty, and staff, as well as respectful, appreciative, and supportive interactions. The faculty is committed to zero tolerance of racism or discrimination based on gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, social situation, social background, religion or belief, disability, appearance, or age.
