Access requirements

Institute for Dual Study Programs

General

The basic requirements for admission to a dual study program at the Institute for Dual Study Programs (IDS) are the conclusion of a study (cooperation) contract with a cooperating company and proof of a university entrance qualification. This is the case if the prospective student has a general higher education entrance qualification, a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, a higher education entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences or previous vocational training in accordance with § 18, paragraph 4 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act. The concrete admission requirements can be found in the respective regulations of the degree programs as well as in the following explanations.

Bachelor's degree programmes integrating training and practical experience

Prospective students who wish to enrol in one of the five training or practice-integrating Bachelor's degree programmes at the IDS must, in addition to the university entrance qualification, be able to prove that they have a study contract with a recognised training/practice company that has a cooperative relationship with the IDS. The Institute already works with more than 500 partner companies and will gladly provide prospective students who need help finding a company with a corresponding list (enquiries can be sent to betreuung-ids@hs-osnabrueck.de with the postal address). Those who have already found an employer who does not yet cooperate with the IDS are also welcome to contact the Office for Student and Business Support at the above-mentioned e-mail address. They will first check whether a cooperation is generally possible before discussing further details with the respective company.

Career-integrating Bachelor's degree programmes

For the job-integrating Bachelor's degree programme at IDS, prospective students must not only have a university entrance qualification, but also a recognised vocational training that corresponds to the field of study. In addition, a study cooperation agreement with a practice partner must be available, which supplements the already existing employment contract with support during the dual study programme. Conceived as a continuing education programme, the occupation-integrating Bachelor's degree of the IDS thus presupposes an existing occupation, while the current employer is taken on as a partner company.

Career-integrating Master's degree programmes

In order to be able to take up a dual Master's programme at the IDS, in addition to the university entrance qualification, the completion of a first university degree and usually one year of professional experience are required. This must build on the previous study programme and fulfil corresponding requirements regarding the level of tasks. In the case of the two work-integrating Master's degrees, a signed study cooperation agreement with the current or future company as cooperation partner must also be submitted to the IDS, which supplements the already existing employment contract with support during the dual study programme. Assistance in finding a company will also be offered to future Master's students.
