Institute for Dual Study Programs
Before starting your studies
You are interested in a dual study program, but choosing the right degree program and the right partner company certainly raises a lot of questions for you:
- Which field of study am I suited for?
- What do the companies expect of me?
- And what prospects do I have after graduation?
None of your questions will remain unanswered at the Institute for Dual Study Programs (IDS). We, the team of the Office for Student and Company Support, will be happy to help you in word and deed to discuss your individual questions and perhaps also concerns before you start your dual study programme. We are also happy to accompany you through the entire application process, starting with the search for a suitable company, making initial contact and checking your application documents, right through to preparing for interviews and assessment centres. We are available to you through a wide variety of channels:
Many aspects can best be clarified in a face-to-face meeting. We are therefore happy to support you in the course of personal meetings with detailed study and perspective counselling, so that you can start the study programme that is right for you in a well-informed manner. Call us or write to us to arrange a meeting or, if you prefer, an online meeting, in which we can clarify your questions in detail and in peace. If you only need brief information on a topic, we will of course be happy to answer your questions directly on the phone or get back to you.
In addition to the usual questions about study content or admission, prospective working students with a first degree in education or further education often have other, very specific questions, for example about the recognition of prior learning or the compatibility of study, career and family. In order to give you the option of personal counselling, we have set up a Friday consultation hour where you can clarify your questions between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. by appointment. Of course, you can still make appointments with us outside of the consultation hours as needed.
A personal advisory meeting is not always possible. That's why you can now get advice on dual studies conveniently via WhatsApp - at home or on the road. Simply save our number and write to us - we look forward to answering your questions about dual studies!

During your studies
Your academic success is close to our hearts! That is why we offer you intensive support during both the theoretical and practical phases. In addition to organisational topics, such as the planning of stays abroad, the focus of our support is primarily on content-related aspects. Since your academic success is significantly influenced by how well you have informed yourself in advance, we highly recommend that you take advantage of our advisory service and contact us. Your company will also certainly view this positively during an interview and beyond if you are familiar with all the details of your dual study programme and take advantage of the following offers:
We place a special emphasis in our supervision on the implementation of the theory-practice relationship. Our learning progress counselling focuses, for example, on the development of scientific thinking and action and how you can usefully apply what you have learned in your everyday professional life. In addition, we provide you with comprehensive support in creating your practice transfer projects. Starting with the identification of suitable topics in the company, through the application of the methods of scientific work, to the communication of the results in the company, we discuss with you all the steps in which you need support. Our goal is always that you learn to use the findings of your work to shape your professional future. For this purpose, we are happy to offer both individual one-on-one meetings and group consultations.
For a variety of reasons, you may fall behind with your exams, develop exam nerves or have to sit a third attempt. In these moments, don't be afraid to come to us and ask for advice. We will look for solutions together with you and, thanks to our many years of experience, can give you many tips on how to overcome your exam problems and prevent them from arising in the future.
Another special feature of the Office of Student and Corporate Affairs are our perspective talks, which take place from the third semester onwards. The question of what to do after graduation is complex. Therefore, you should think about this as early as possible. We offer you a neutral point of contact to help you reflect on and plan your professional and further academic career. In this way, we want to ensure that you get the best out of your dual studies with our help - for yourself and for your company.
If you have any questions about the organisation, the practical transfer projects or other topics related to the dual study programme that do not require a detailed consultation, please feel free to drop by the Office for Student and Company Support during our office hours without making an appointment. We are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 09:30 and 12:00 in room LK 0001.
Do you have wishes and needs that we have not been able to take into account so far or ideas about what we could improve? Please do not hesitate to contact us directly with such concerns. We are always very interested in your opinion and welcome your suggestions both in person and by e-mail. You are always welcome to enter into a constructive exchange with us.
After your studies
Even after you have successfully completed your studies, we will be at your side as a reliable partner. In an individual career counselling session, we talk to you about the prospects for your personal and professional development. The focus will be on development opportunities within your company and your industry, as well as various further education options, such as a career-integrating Master's degree. In addition, we support you and your company in the implementation of trainee programs.
