The aim of this module is to introduce to a broad range of operations management concepts, within the context of Change Management and Transformation. In addition to introductory sessions which explore the characteristics of operations management strategy and systems, a number of areas provide the framework for study: Process design - including product/service, process, supply chain, layout and flow, and job design, Planning and control - including capacity, JIT/lean and quality, Thematic change programmes/philosophies.

PFP-1 has 100 points and consists of a presentation with written report (50 points) and a one-hour written exam (50 points).

PFP-2 has 100 points and consists of a presentation (50 points) and a one-hour exam (50 points).

Students who have completed the module successfully, have a knowledge about principles of operations management in the context of Innovation and Change. Students understand the major theories, concepts and practices of operations management and are able to analyse the effectiveness of operations management practices in a wide range of organisations and sectors (manufacturing, service and public sector).

Students who have completed the module successfully, demonstrate a deep understanding of theoretical principles through application to organisational problems. Students are able to analyse and challenge organisational practices using systems concepts and have a deep knowledge in using the principles of operations management in the context of Innovation and change.

Students who successfully complete this module are able to consolidate information from different areas of the internal business process and analyze it.

Students are able to work confidently with operations management tools.

Students who successfully complete this module are able to analyze operation issues, and interpret and present the results. Students will learn to deliver MECE arguments (mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive) and prepare convincing presentations.

Students who successfully complete this module recognize situation-adequate and situation-spanning framework conditions of professional action on an operational level and reflect operational decision making in a responsible-ethical manner.
They are able to reflect critically on actions on an operatioal level in relation to social expectations and consequences and develop their professional actions further.

The module is part of the Innovation and Transformation focus. It prepares you for advanced modules in the areas of change management and innovation management.
