Malstrom (founded in 2013 at IfM Osnabrück) creates a wild mixture of power jazz, prog rock and improvisation. Since 10 years this band is touring international, won different jazz prizes like Burghauser Jazzpreis 2015 and Getxo Jazz Competition 2017 and will release their sixth album BREMEN on march 21st, 2025.
As part of this release they do a release tour and are happy to come to back to Osnabrück, to play a concert at Plektrum and also give a workshop, talking about the development of the band, explaining the music and also sharing their experience from switching of being a student to become a professional full time musician and working as bandleader. This also includes all the topics next to making music, like band organization, booking concerts etc. Little jamsession with the students will also be part of the workshop and they are looking forward to have a relaxed inspiring exchange and get to know the students.
